Rainy Day

The word of the day : "Rain"

Yeah damn rain spoiled all my plans. If this goes on I'm gonna have to invite the Christmas Carol crew outside my door singing "Rain rain go away, come again another day"

Which reminds me, Chris is going to suntan with her "Nonsense" crew today. I doubt any suntanning will ever happen. The only kind of tan anyone can get today is a drenched one. But I hope she does have fun lol.

Gonna have my run now at that haunted place. Hey it gives more adrennaline! Good for adventure on a boring and wet day.

It's Summer Time!

It's summer holidays! Woo hoo! Wait it's summer all year round but that's the fun!

Time for all the REAL programmes to start kicking in :)

To the busybody Singaporean who can't take an f word on tv: Yo give the lady a break? Jade Seah is new and she didn't mean it. It's not as if you never used the word before. Even if you really don't, people make mistakes so just let it rest.

I don't know what you were doing cos I think u were the only one in Singapore who noticed it.
It's either you watching the Olympics highlights in Dolby Surround, or there is something really wrong with you.

I mean come on? Who watches the highlights and then notice such stuff? Instead of watching the intense epic battles between the athletes, you get all bitchy over a word. How shallow can you people be?

Injustice settled.

Gonna clear up my stuff now and perhaps plan my workout for tml. Laters ;)

GETAI!!!

Current music playing: 7th month Getai
Current mood: Ecstatic

Decided to copy this LJ template because I’m experiencing seriously LOL situation now.

Just when I thought the Olympics distraction could end, another one came along.

Hell yeah, I have a Hungry Ghost festival “Getai” near my place.

I literally can hear them roaring away now.

My mum gave me the WHAT face when she heard me singing along to some of the tunes.

Yeah I guess the WHAT is coming from you now too.

I can sing some of the songs like “如果我有一百万” & “榕树下”

Mum was like laughing out loud :)

Surprise surprise. Guess I’m a classical person too ;)

The most LMAO one was this song that just played. Me and my mum thought it was an Indian song.

After a while, I realized what it was.

It was “We are Singapore” in Hokkien version. WTF!?

Since when Getai was patriotic too? Lol

Learnt a lot from mum about how they organize getai and the various auctions they hold. Seems that my grandpaps was a fan of it because he always got the tickets. Wow the good old kampong days. Though I’ve never seen him before, I imagine he must have been such a lively man haha.

Just got news that Nastia Liukin tied with China's He for Gold medal for the Olympics but then because of some tie breaking system she became silver. Geez wth. She totally deserved a Gold. Poor Liukin :(

Well back to marketing now and “如果我有一百万" ;)

Retreat

3 more papers to go.

Easy easy easy.

Anyway Phelps you're the man. Sg ping pong gals ain't that bad too.

Come 22 Aug alot of things are gonna happen.

I've planned such a long list that even Santa will freak out if he looked at it.

I planned a retreat for myself.

Yeah that's right, a retreat. During this retreat I'll train myself physically, mentally and spiritually. After this holidays, I'll turn out a new man.

So excited for it already. Can't wait

And yeah Bryce, Nastia Liukin is hotter than that Heroes Cheerleader

I'll leave it as that.

The Olympics

Got distracted in the morning by the Olympics matches again.

Seriously this ain’t really a good time to host a sacred event like this cos I’m gonna have my exams soon?

This year’s gymnastics event totally pwned me.

Nope it wasn’t because all the gymnast girls are hot, though I must admit Team USA and Siberia (not sure) were hot.

What mesmerized me was something different.

Team USA had a really bad start because 3 out of 4 of four of them missed that the uneven bars while they are doing their uneven bars routine and the cause was their team being plagued by injuries.

They were really sad as they were hoping to nail the gold this year. They were the hot favourites and now this had to happen. One of them nearly cried. Everyone was sure then that they wouldn’t make it for preliminaries round 2.

But something incredible happened. Despite all the negative commentary and how insurmountable the odds were (their opponents: Japan, Britain and China purely owned the uneven bars), they didn’t give up. Instead they cheered each other on.

They displayed “The spirit of not giving up.”

They decided to give their all for the last event which is the balance beam.

Nastia Liukin's performance was extraordinary considering she may still be suffering from the after effects of injury.
Chellsie Memmel’s performance on the beam was mesmerizing. It was as if she was a little pixie dancing on the beam, with such grace. Her moves were gentle and subtle, smooth and light, like those of a fairy. That was when Team USA got up and they knew that this was their chance.

Chellsie Memmel's fairy performance
Shawn Johnson boosted their team’s performance by giving a performance full of power, with every move powerful but with grace. The elegance of a serious woman. She executed the beam performance perfectly and finished it with the legendary double back flip and landed perfectly. 16 year old current world champion totally pwned the crowd.

Wow. I mean seriously WOW!

Totally beautiful and perfect. For this two words to come out simultaneously of my mouth. Damn that's excellent.

And in the end, they made it.
Team USA athletes celebrating

These young athletes just never fail to amaze me. They make what seems humanly impossible possible. And most importantly, their focus and determination on the goal is absolutely admirable.

And not to mention all of Team USA’s and the other competitors are all around our age. Shawn Johnson, the current world champion is 16 years old. Beat that! Besides having hectic training schedules, they still do well in their studies and take time out for community work, family, pets and yes, they do have a Life.
Evidence: Team USA's gymnasts' profile: Geez man and all the time we say we don't have time for things we wanna do

This makes me think about what I can really do. Not that I’m gonna be a gymnast but I can really do much more if I push myself out of my comfort zone. If they can do it, so can I.

Anyway all hopes will be on Tao Li tomorrow. I hope she nails the first gold medal for Team Singapore. Rock on!

My eyes were totally glued to the screen for the legendary showdown between USA and China for basketball. Team USA ,with all those tomahawk and 360 dunks, had an advantage over China. Though being that, I must say Yao Ming put up a really good performance. USA is still the Dream Team I guess. What do you expect when you put King James, Carmelo Anthony, Kobe(my favourite player!) and Dwyane Wade in a single team huh? Yao Ming made a big entrance with a 1st 3 pointer shot but hey! We got Kobe man. I think he’s the only one who can shoot a 3 pointer while closing his eyes. Hey not kidding! Dude, It’s Kobe Bryant. I think he really nailed a basket while closing his eyes before >.<
Dwyane Wade nailing a high flying dunk
Michael Phelps, 7 more gold medals to go. I’ll be watching you.
Geez so much exciting competitions to watch. Unfortunately I don’t have the time and nor do I want to take Mark Richmond’s and Jade Seah’s (ooh lala) jobs of being the Olympics highlights hosts.
I’m such a sports fanatic ;) This is so gonna cause me my grades if I continue like this -.-
Gonna sleep now and catch Tao Li’s competition tomorrow. After which I will meet Jovian for revision tomorrow.

つながり

It's difficult to be in a relationship.

I don't mean BGR. I mean relationships like family and friends.

Yesterday the twins quarreled. And seriously both are important people to me. I hate to do the taking sides thing. So I'm not gonna take sides. All I'm gonna say is it's a misunderstanding, both of you have your reasons, I empathised with both of you, so just talk to each other about it, understand, and then apologise sincerely.

I mean seriously, it all originated from something that was not even of substantial importance at first, it then grew and then boom.

Look at it from the other person's shoes then try to understand. And to one of the twins: The other twin will not know what the hell you're thinking about unless you tell her. Cheer up both of you k? Kiss and make peace or something soon.

As for family, for the record, my sister isn't staying with me. She's staying with some friend cos she has "issues" with my parents. But bloody hell can't she pick up my phone calls?

My Mum of course is still the best in the world :) No doubt about that.

Relationships are really hard to maintain. Even for BGR (don't worry I'm still single). People often forget to express and forget to listen. It's a normal thing. It just comes with being closer. After so much time together, people often expect others to know them and themselves to know alot about the other person.

But this is often not the case. Very often you see a girl being angry at her bf when he forgets she doesn't take coffee or chocolates. It makes sense that she's angry if she told the guy before. But sometimes she also gets angry when he doesn't know that she doesn't like to wear white tees when she has not even told him before. And the reason would be: "Hey we've been together for so long. You should know :("

It's true that people who spend alot of time together get a little telepathic. Me, my ex could do that to each other. But don't take it for granted. A bond with another person requires you to go out of your way to understand a person. If we were that simple to understand, then I must say you are as simple as a rock.

Even a rock contains metamorphic, igneous material, have different gradients and minerals, different colours and structure, different compression pressure and different extremophiles habitating it. If you don't know what I'm talking about, GOOD, cos this shows a rock ain't that simple too.

Understanding a person requires more than a lifetime. Don't expect others to understand you after being together for a few years. Every person is a unique and complex individual. And that's what friendship takes. Spending time to know each other and having fun with each other.

The beauty in a bond lies in not understanding each other completely, it lies in always taking time and constantly understanding an individual. It takes a lifetime. That's what friends are for.

Done with the explanation. Phew...

Anyway Jap word for the day: つながり (Tsunagari) [I know damn random but just feel like doing this.]

Meaning: Bonds, Relationships

Remember: Bonds require effort to maintain. Don't give up!

To my friends: I smile and laugh everyday in school, cos you guys are with me ;)

Fall For You

New skin, new song.

What can I say?

A girl like you is impossible to find.

Lol. Dom get back to the books! NOW!

A tired Hero never stops

Some Heroes are born, some are made.

Every hero will be tested and called to greatness in time to come.

Just 8 days more, a test that I must endure. It’s tough but no pressure. Can’t wait till the battle is here.

Till then let’s fight like everyday is the last day.

Tomorrow I gotta print my notes out from my laptop. All these long hours of staring at the screen has made my eyes really pain and red. Can't let it bring me down now.

Today was a good day. Jap test was easy but got owned for the listening compre because I didn't know we could only click it two times.

EFMA was great. 31.5 out of 35 ain't that bad. It's good to know that Ive already passed the EFMA exam overall but of course I'm not settling for that.

Better get back to Business Law now.

Signing Off
Dom
